The holidays are special time at Coastal Kids Home Care. Each year, we have several organizations and members of the community come together to purchase gifts for our CK families. We have been lucky enough to have established a "Holiday Gift Program" with the help of some awesome people in the community, but we need YOUR help to make it another year to remember.
While 2020 has brought our world incredible health and economic hardship, Coastal Kids Home Care remains steadfast in our commitment to providing lowcost, high-quality medical care to children. As California’s only pediatric home health agency, Coastal Kids provides professional nursing, therapeutic care, and social service support to children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Nursing care eases children’s pain and symptoms educates families about how to care for their children and offers personalized care coordination in consultation with children's physicians. Through social services, families gain access to basic needs assistance, individual counseling, and other resources critical to creating a sense of stability. These services are provided to children living with illness and disability where they most want to be – at home.
This holiday season, more than ever before, families in our care are in need of assistance to bring the joy of the holidays home to their children. Currently, we have 55 children with life-limiting illnesses – complex genetic conditions, cystic fibrosis, and recurrent cancer among diagnoses – receiving a full range of medical and comfort care at home under our palliative care program. An additional 65 children on service including medically fragile infants, children in treatment for cancers, those with lifelong conditions like sickle cell anemia or short-term illness receive in-home nursing, therapy and counseling. Together, more than 50% of the families we serve are low or very low income. Many of these are suffering job and housing instability and food insecurity as a result of the pandemic.
YOU can bring relief to stressed parents and a spark of holiday cheer to these precious children.
