Thank you to our Winter Wishes Donors including our biggest donor, Amazon!
This holiday season, families caring for children with illness and disability will have a little less to worry about thanks to Amazon. Through their generosity, Coastal Kids Home Care will be delivering Teddy Bears to our pediatric patients and their siblings and gift cards to their parents to shop for food, toys and other gifts.
More than ever before, families in our care are in need of assistance to bring the joy of the holidays home to their children. Currently, we have 55 children with life-limiting illnesses ā complex genetic conditions, cystic fibrosis, and recurrent cancer among diagnoses ā receiving a full range of medical and comfort care at home under our palliative care program. An additional 65 children on service including medically fragile infants, children in treatment for cancers, those with lifelong conditions like sickle cell anemia or short-term illness receive in-home nursing, therapy and counseling. Together, more than 50% of the families we serve are low or very low income. Many of these are suffering job and housing instability and food insecurity as a result of the pandemic.Ā
It has been a difficult year for many, and with Amazon's help, Coastal Kids Home Care patients and their families will have something to look forward to this holiday season.Ā Thank you Amazon!!!
