Hieu Nguyen, MD, Medical Director - Pediatrician
Hieu Nguyen, M. D. AKA “Dr. Hieu” received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine after changing from his career as a teacher and volleyball coach. He completed his residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, the founding place of the AAP, where he worked with the underserved, did many mission trips abroad, and focused on mentoring the youth. He has received many Humanitarian and Educator awards and honors. Making the lives of children better has always been his focus. Dr. Hieu is a passionate physician, especially when it comes to promoting healthy lifestyles and public health. He finds joy daily when caring for our patients and their families and looks forward watching them grow up. Dr. Hieu has 2 sons who are young and wild. He enjoys volleyball, cooking and traveling. Dr. Hieu is also a avid drummer. He is originally from the bay area and both his and his wife’s family all reside in California.
Annie Berlin, President - Principal, Berlin Communications
Annie Berlin has an extensive communications and public relations background working with hospitals, non-profits and community-based organizations in the areas of maternal and child health, maternal and fetal medicine, donor and community communications, external affairs and advocacy. Her experience includes a role as Vice President of Resource Management at George Mark Children’s House and numerous volunteer positions at Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, including work in in the neonatal ICU. Annie has a passion for children’s health issues and received her MPH from the University of Washington School of Medicine and Public Health in 2006.
Nancy De Serpa, Vice President - Retired, Government Relations
Nancy De Serpa is a lifelong resident of Monterey County. She has a background in advocacy for underserved and at-risk communities in the Salinas area. She has previously worked with Congressman Sam Farr and as Acting Executive Director of the Housing Resources Center in our community.
Grace Feldeisen, Secretary - Designer, California Closets
Grace is a lifelong resident of Monterey County. She raised two sons in Salinas and currently works as a designer at California Closets. She has always been interested in nonprofits in the community and regularly attends benefits and events to lend her support. She often called upon to provide her artistic flair to displays and events in the region.
Anker Fanoe - President and CEO, Pacific Valley Bank
Anker Fanoe is currently the President and CEO of Pacific Valley Bank. Anker’s career has been primarily in financial services where he has held many executive positions. His commitment to the youth in Monterey County is evidenced by his board positions with Coastal Kids Home Care, Operation Give Back and the Palma Foundation. Anker comes from deep local roots; he is 5th generation from Monterey County. He and his wife Cappie live in Salinas and their three sons are all in college. Anker graduated from UCSB with a degree in Economics.
Marci Alexander - Account Executive, Ocean Mist Farms
Marci is a lifelong resident of Monterey County and a two-time survivor of cancer, including pediatric cancer. She brings a strong understanding of complex health issues to our Board and a commitment to assisting families in need. She has worked in the agriculture industry for her entire career and has two grown sons.
Natalie Stickler-Hofmans - District Manager, Wells Fargo
Natalie is the Monterey County District Manager for Wells Fargo where she started as a teller in 2001. She is now responsible for management of eight Wells Fargo locations and develops and implements effective sales and business strategies. She is also a committee member for the Carmel Foundation.
Polly Sirles - Principal, Haines Property Management
Polly Sirles is a passionate advocate for children’s healthcare issues. Most recently she has worked with the Jay Moriarity Foundation which raises funds for Angel Warriors for Kids to help children battling pediatric cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in Santa Cruz County. Her prior work experience includes experience as a Development Associate with the Pajaro Valley Health Trust and a realtor with Haines and Associates Real Estate. Polly is the mother of five sons, including one with special healthcare needs.
Alex Costes - Supervising Union Electrician
Alex Costes is a lifelong resident of Monterey County. He and his wife Janna are raising two sons in Salinas, in a three-generation family that includes his 95 year old mother. He has served as a Supervising Union Electrician at Cupertino Electric for 27 years and has always been active in the community. He has been apart of several nonprofits in the community and regularly participates in various ways to lend his support. He has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 20 years, a Bowling Youth Director for nine years, and the USBC Salinas Bowling Association President for three years. He is currently serving on the Madonna del Sasso School Advisory Board and the California Air Show Admissions Committee. As time permits, he enjoys being at home with his family, remodeling their home, and bar-b-queuing.
Richard Prader - Community Volunteer
Richard is retired from United Parcel Service. He is a dedicated team captain for “Relay for Life - Team Mark Velcoff” and committee chair for Coastal Kids, Touch-A-Truck event. Richard is married with five grown daughters and thirteen grandchildren.
Lewis Cantor, MD - President Emeritus
Dr. Lewis Cantor graduated from Rutgers College with his bachelor’s degree in 1965. He received his M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Cantor relocated to Salinas in 1974 and had lived and practiced general pediatric medicine locally since then. In May 2019, Dr. Cantor retired as President from the Coastal Kids Board of Directors after serving almost 15 years. Dr. Cantor is married with two grown children, two grandchildren and loves to travel in his free time.
